Halle Berry’s African American father Jerome Berry and Caucasian mother Judith Berry named her after Halle's Department Store, a local landmark in Cleveland, Ohio. Halle was born on August 14, 1966 in Cleveland. After being chosen as the first runner-up in the Miss USA Pageant of 1986, Berry moved to Chicago to become a model. In 1991, she made her film debut in Spike Lee's Jungle Fever.
Halle Berry’ first co-starring role was Strictly Business. Halle is best known for her role as Storm in X-Men (2000) and Ginger in Swordfish (2001). Her career was highlighted by her 2002 milestone of being the first African American actress to win Best Actress at the Acadamy Awards, which she won for her work in Monster's Ball.
