Tara Leigh Patrick aka Carmen Electra was born near Cincinnati in the neighboring town Sharonville, Ohio on April 20, 1972. She did not waste any time preparing for her career as she began taking dance lessons when she was five years old. At the time, she aspired to be a Broadway dancer.
After graduating from Princeton High School, she moved to California and soon met Prince (at that point, the Artist Formally Known as Prince) who convinced her to change her name to Carmen Electra to begin her short-lived singing career in an all-girl rap group signed to Prince's own Paisley Park Records. After the cease of her singing career, Carmen went on to pose for Playboy magazine in 1996. Her interest soon turned to acting with her TV roles on Baywatch and MTV's Singled Out and Til Death Do Us Part, which documented her current marriage to Jane's Addiction's guitarist, Dave Navarro.
