The daughter of a Cuban-American father and an Anglo-German mother, model-turned-actress Cameron Diaz is one of Hollywood's hottest stars. She was born on August 30, 1972 in San Diego, California. When she was 16 years old, she traveled around the world for five years before returning to California at age 21. She was modeling for the Elite Modeling agency when she won her first big motion picture role in The Mask opposite Jim Carrey.
Acting in independent films for the next three years prepared Diaz for her next mainstream role in My Best Friend's Wedding in 1997. In 1998, she stole the screen with her star role as Ben Stiller's dream girl in There's Something About Mary. Since then, Cameron has been in numerous other movies such as Charlie's Angels (2000) Shrek (2001), and Gangs of New York (2002).
