Beyoncé Knowles is both a solo musical artist and a member of the pop quartet, Destiny's Child. The girl group joined in 1990 and has since sold over 50 million records making them the best-selling girl group of all time. Knowles made her film debut in 2001 costarring with actor Mekhi Phifer in the made for television movie Carmen: A Hip Hopera. Perhaps the role that Beyoncé is best known for is when she played Foxxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers in Goldmember.
Beyoncé was born on September 4, 1981 to Matthew Knowles and Tina Beyince in Houston, Texas. She began singing at age 7 and later refined her musical talent while attending the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston. As a solo artist, she has had six songs in the US Hot 100 including “Check on It” in 2003 and “Crazy In Love” in 2005.
